The Global Association for the History of Surgery (GAHS) is a nonprofit organization founded by Mustafa Farooq, MD, with the mission to preserve, study, and promote the rich and diverse history of surgery across the world. GAHS serves as a dedicated platform for surgeons, historians, educators, students, and the public to engage with the evolution of surgical knowledge, practice, and innovation. From ancient procedures to modern breakthroughs, our aim is to document and celebrate the individuals, instruments, institutions, and ideas that have shaped the field of surgery across time and cultures. Through digital archiving, educational outreach, historical research, and global collaboration, GAHS seeks to ensure that the legacy of surgical excellence is preserved and shared for generations to come.
